On Ebb and Flow...

Today is my 15th wedding anniversary. Less than one month ago I turned 40 and just last week my husband turned 40 as well. His birthday was the 16th anniversary of the day we met. We are hitting milestone anniversaries left and right and it's leading to a lot of reflection.

In the past 16 years we have been together we have lived in 9 homes. The one we are in now has been the same for the past 6 (also celebrated that milestone last week on my love's birthday). There was a lot of movement in the first decade of our union.

In the 16 years we have been together we moved from Colorado to New York to Colorado and back again. There have been a lot of miles traversed searching for home.

We have been pregnant 8 times and have two children. We've had three dogs and 8 fish. Have experienced devastating losses of family members and jubilant births of new ones.

Ebb and flow. There has been a lot of it.

Creating artwork has always been key to standing in the waves and letting them wash over me. Sunny or gray making in some form is always my anchor.

I have played with wave patterns intermittently in my work but it wasn't until a couple of weeks ago that I actually painted a wave. I'm hooked. A little obsessed really. My husband and I were discussing my next 100 day project and he joked it could be "100 Waves". I am actually considering it.

Anyway, ebb and flow. The tide rolls in filling, filling. The tide rolls out clearing, clearing. Life is constantly in motion and though it may look dramatically different at one time than another, more often than not at the end of the day if you pay close enough attention there are cycles. There is balance.

Today at 8am eft I will be releasing a collection of 12 wave paintings on my home page. If you are interested in something similar but slightly different or larger, yes... I take commissions.
