This is a piece that I did when I decided to fully recommit to my art, my painting. When I decided that come hell or high water I was going to make this work.
I had been painting periodically, very sporadically at best, since our daughter was born in the spring of 2007. I started painting some with her as soon as she could scribble on my papers and we did some collaborations which will always be some of my favorite work. Then... we decided to have another baby, moved across country, M stopped being interested, our son was BUSY and my practice, my committment, my connection to my art became minute again.
This fall after some soul searching (you know, the why am I so pissed off all the time variety) I decided to return to my work wholeheartedly. I scheduled some shows, talked a lot about it, and did nothing creative. In December I started playing with miniature canvases and acrylics late at night as I began to explore sacred geometry for the #ichooselove show. In February, I knew I was back.
In February I started working on paintings based upon quotes that resonated with me over the previous months and this one by Anais Nin will always be a favorite.
Black and white was an intentional choice as well, you can read about it here.
